Aggravated Assault Mississippi - JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) — A Jackson man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for aggravated assault and burglary at a Ridgeland home.
Dexter Maurice Gilmore pleaded guilty to the charges in court. On February 10, Ridgeland police responded after a caller said she came home to find an intruder hiding inside.

The woman said she got home around 6:30 p.m. and went to the bathroom to use the sink. While washing her hands, she looked in the mirror and saw Gilmore standing behind her holding a rock.
Oxford Woman Arrested For Aggravated Assault
When she woke up, she said Gilmore dragged her around the house and kept telling her he was going to kill her. The woman managed to escape to a neighbor's home, where she called 9-1-1.
The woman told officers she had a previous relationship with Gilmore after meeting him at work. She said he was stalking her.
Fingerprints found at the scene and a woman Gilmore recognized led to his arrest and confession to burglary and assault on the victim.
In 2001, he was sentenced to one year in prison for possession of cocaine. In 2002 he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for possession of cocaine and in 2007 he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for aggravated assault.
