Airplane Mobile - So about four years ago I had the bright idea to gift my friend her shower. We don't have any money for now, so I decided to sew her this banner and clouds and then have my husband make our painted model airplane. Then we went to his house and installed it for him. A great gift for $15. I told him on Friday that if you ignore 2 days straight, Aaron would have to work on a model airplane because it had 1000 pieces and had to be glued together. The shower was on Sunday. He is truly a saint.
So now that it was our little one's turn, I knew our nursery needed it too. Luckily for Aaron, we've got a vintage airplane here at Target, so he didn't have to build a model airplane this time. At least not yet :D
Airplane Mobile
We mostly stick to basic colors in her room, especially to balance out all the neutral colors I have for walls and furniture. I chose my separate fabric for the banner and then adhered it with navy ribbon to tie everything together. I cut them into oversized triangles, put the pieces back to back, then sew them together

Then I took the navy ribbon and sewed it to both sides of the triangles I made, so you don't see any unfinished edges. I hang everything from the ceiling using fishing line and push pins so you can't see it and minimize damage to the ceiling.
Next I created the clouds. Obviously I'm not great at drawing clouds, so these were a bit of a challenge. Same idea for these once I get them to a semi-decent size, hopefully I'll stuff them like little pillows and then hand stitch the opening.
Finally we join the plane! I can't tell you how happy Aaron was not to build a model airplane, at least on an unfair timeline!
I love how it all came together! It plays up to the height of the ceiling, adding another element of travel to the room and is fun and different that you don't see in every nursery. I'd love to see some of the nursery ideas you've created, or if you've tried it, I'd love to see the results!
